Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Storage Cleaner (the “app”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects information when you use the app. Storage Cleaner is a utility that helps you free up space on your phone by finding duplicate photos, oversized videos, cluttered contacts and promotional email. It is designed to keep as much of your data on your device as possible.

1. Summary

• Photo, video and contact scanning happens on your device. We do not upload your media to any server.
• Connecting Google is optional and only used for the specific feature you turn on (Email Cleaner or duplicate detection in Google Photos).
• We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
• You can disconnect Google access or delete the app at any time.

2. Information we access

2.1 On-device data

When you use Storage Cleaner, the app reads the following data directly on your device — it never leaves your phone:

• Photo library. Filenames, file sizes, capture timestamps, image hashes and thumbnails used to group near-duplicates and detect large files.
• Contacts. Names, phone numbers and email addresses used to detect duplicates and incomplete entries.
• Storage information. Aggregate free/used space, used to show storage insights.

2.2 Google account data (optional)

If you sign in with Google to use the Email Cleaner or Google Photos duplicate detection, Storage Cleaner uses the following Google APIs and scopes:

• Gmail API — reads message metadata (sender, subject, date, size, labels) and, when you confirm a cleanup, moves selected messages to your Gmail Trash.
• Google Photos Library API (read-only) — reads photo metadata to detect duplicates. Read-only access means Storage Cleaner cannot modify or delete anything in your Google Photos library.
• Basic profile — your name, email address and profile picture, used to show which account is signed in.

2.3 Diagnostics

The app may collect anonymous crash reports and performance metrics (device model, OS version, error stack traces). These reports do not contain your photos, contacts, mail or personal identifiers.

3. How we use information

• To provide the app’s core features (finding duplicates, cleaning up storage, categorising email).
• To move messages you select to your Gmail Trash when you confirm an email cleanup.
• To fix bugs and improve reliability.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not use it to train machine-learning or AI models, and we do not sell it.

4. Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

Specifically, Google user data accessed through the Gmail and Google Photos APIs is used only to provide user-facing features inside Storage Cleaner. It is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide those features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition. It is not used for advertising, and no humans read it except (a) with your explicit consent, (b) for security purposes such as investigating abuse, (c) to comply with applicable law, or (d) where the data has been aggregated and anonymised.

5. Storage and retention

Metadata read from your Google account is processed on your device and cached only long enough to render the current session. Cached data is cleared when you sign out, disconnect the account, or delete the app. We do not maintain a copy of your Gmail messages or Google Photos content on our servers.

Items you delete inside Storage Cleaner move to an in-app Trash and remain there for 30 days so you can restore them. After 30 days they are permanently removed.

6. Sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties, except:

• With Apple, Google, or your mobile OS when required to perform an action you initiated (for example, moving mail to Gmail Trash calls the Gmail API).
• When required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

7. Your choices and rights

• Disconnect Google. Sign out from inside Storage Cleaner’s account screen, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• Revoke system permissions. Revoke Photos, Contacts or Notification access from your device’s Settings app.
• Delete the app. Uninstalling Storage Cleaner removes all data stored by the app on your device, including the in-app Trash.
• Request data deletion. Because we do not store your Google user data or media on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete server-side. If you believe we hold data about you, contact us at the address below.

8. Children

Storage Cleaner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

All calls to Google APIs use HTTPS. Access tokens are stored in the secure keystore provided by iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. No security system is perfect; if you believe your account has been compromised, disconnect it from your Google Account and contact us.

10. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your information, we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Continued use of Storage Cleaner after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
